Hiking Bare Mountain

In the last few years, several members have made great strides in mapping and building a new trail system to take advantage of our 130 acres of mostly hillside terrain. We now have over 5 miles of developed trails with spectacular mountain and lake views. If you love to hike nude in nature and appreciate not having to worry about who might be around the next corner, you will love hiking Bare Mountain. Pick up a map at the club house and a pair of hiking poles at the either of the trail heads and strike out on an adventure. And remember that the summit is at nearly 5000 ft with over an 800 ft elevation gain so take it slow and bring some water.

The easiest route is the Jeep Trail to the Archery & Bear Trap spot, then left up the Lake View Trail. Stop and rest at Nude’s Nest. You may climb up to High Point for an extra workout and a great view. On the way back down, you may go back the way you came or take the Monkey Rock Trail and then either the Black Diamond Trail or the West View Trail. Be careful coming down the road from the A-Frame, it is very steep.

For an aerobic workout, reverse the route – go up Black Diamond Trail, take the Monkey Rock Trail to Nudes Nest, then Lake View Trail back to civilization.
